Eldon Ham
Eldon L. Ham has practiced law for four decades and is experienced in contracts, trademarks, trade secrets, business law, entertainment, and sports. He is an adjunct member of the faculty at IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law, a tier-one national law school, where where he has taught since 1994 and won the Distinguished Service Award in 2010. He is also the designated legal analyst for WSCR Sports Radio in Chicago and is the author of five books on sports history. The newest release, All the Babe’s Men: Baseball’s Greatest Home Run Seasons and How They Changed America (Potomac Books), won a bronze medal in the national IPPY Awards, sports category. His articles have been published by the New York Times, Harvard Law, Berkeley Law, Marquette Law, Seton Hall Law, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, Baltimore Sun, and dozens of others.
Eldon Ham was the first lawyer to challenge and change the NFL drug policy in court (Richard Dent v. NFL), and his leading athlete disability case is still featured in law textbooks nationally (Knapp v. Northwestern University). He worked on two projects for Muhammad Ali; was a principal in a trade secret case against a Fortune 500 company; and represented various agents, media personalities, and production companies. He has provided legal work for recording contracts, endorsement contracts, and licensing agreements involving such properties NFL Properties, Major League Baseball, Caesars Palace, CNN, NBA, and National Hockey League.
He has been a widely quoted expert in such venues as the Washington Post, ESPN.com, BusinessWeek, San Francisco Chronicle, USA Today, Chicago Sun-Times, Orlando Sentinel, Christian Science Monitor, and Law 360; and he has been featured on Fox Sports, NPR, WGN Chicago, KFAN New York, WTTW Public Television, all major Chicago news media outlets, and elsewhere.
He has been nationally quoted in such venues as the New York Times, USA Today, Business Week, ESPN.com, Chicago Sun-Times, Washington Post, and many more, and his articles have been published by the New York Times, Harvard University Journal of Sports & Entertainment Law, Berkeley Journal of Entertainment & Sports Law, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Inquirer, Baltimore Sun, St. Louis Post Dispatch, Trial Magazine, and others.
He is experienced in licensing and trademarks nationally, and has worked with properties such as the NFL, Major League Baseball, NCAA, CNN, Caesar’s Palace and others. He is the three time past Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Committee on Law & Literature; he has been featured on radio and television in Chicago and nationally; and he coached Chicago-Kent baseball arbitration teams to second and third place national finishes in 2013 and 2014.

Carla Ham is a Nashville based entertainment attorney and co-founder of Ham Law Firm. A former dance performance artist, Carla brings her firsthand knowledge of the industry to her law practice. After years of watching her friends, colleagues and favorite entertainers struggle to create their art under oppressive contracts she decided to attend law school in an effort to help artists navigate the ever changing world of entertainment, business and law.
Today, Carla is a licensed attorney and graduate of IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law (2011), a tier one national law school. She holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Northwestern University (2006) and a Masters in Communications and Public Relations from DePaul University (2008). Carla attends honky tonk and rockabilly shows regularly, is learning boogie boogie piano and the spoons, 2-step, jive or swing dances whenever possible, collects taxidermy and sits on the board for The Nashville School of Country Music.
